The artwork of Robert Shaffer will be on display at the Ossipee Public Library for the months of February and March. Mr. Shaffer is a member of the Governor Wentworth Arts Council. He is a printmaker and educator who describes his work the following way:
“I have always been fascinated by illustrators and how their work tells stories. I love the idea of mark making and how powerful those marks communicate on multiple emotional and intellectual levels. With a Masters in Art and Theater, I worked for many years as a commercial artist before focusing on teaching to foster the same enthusiasm that I have toward visual storytelling. I have produced, designed and directed over twenty theatrical productions and as a high school art teacher, have guided many gifted young artists to find their individual styles.
Deeply moved by the Art of Japan, I have studied and incorporated historical methods into my own art. I am a fortunate recipient of the Japan Fulbright Memorial Fund and spent time in Japan deepening my knowledge with the goal of bringing the art form into my classroom in the States.”
Mr. Shaffer and his wife split their time between the Lakes Region of New Hampshire and Rhode Island. He has exhibited work locally at Meredith Village Savings Bank and Huggins Hospital, both in Wolfeboro. Stop by the Ossipee Public Library before the end of March to see his colorful and exciting artwork for yourself. For more info, call OPL at 603-539-6390.
