Rachel Ward’s Oil Paintings displayed at the Ossipee Public Library
Rachel Ward is a retired teacher of both high school and elementary curricula. She has an AB degree from Colby College in Waterville, Maine, and diverse credentials in math, science and education. She had experiences as a high school English teacher, assistant principal and many extra-curricular duties, both in private school and public schools. After family arrived, she changed to elementary, and covered many areas in that, as well: Title I, library, diagnostic prescriptive and reading specialist, retiring in 1993.
As a diversion in her senior years, she took up oil painting. In 2000 she spent a month in Italy under the tutelage of a docent program from the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Following that, she has participated in a recreation program in art instruction in Ossipee taught by Patricia Jones as well as several courses offered by Mt. Washington Valley Art Association in North Conway and others at OLLI at Granite State College at Tech Village in Conway. In 2010 she was accepted as a juried member of the M.W.V.A.A. and is now entitled to exhibit in M.W.V.A.A. shows and apply for a solo show as an Artist of the Month.
She has exhibited in the Franklin Gallery in Rochester, the Arts Council of Tamworth, Ossipee Old Home Week Exhibitions and the July Mt. Washington Valley Art Association Shows in North Conway. Her other hobby of original needlepoints won Honorable Mention in a recent M.W.V.A.A. competition.
Please come view Rachel’s oil paintings at the Ossipee Public Library, displayed this November and December. The library hours are Monday and Thursday 12pm-8pm, Tuesday and Friday 10am-5pm, and Saturday 9am-1pm (closed Wednesday and Sunday).
