Thank you Town of Ossipee, National Library Relocations, and The Home Beautiful for the New Carpet in the Ossipee Public Library.
The Old Carpet was very dirty and stained! It was faded in many places. See the contrast between the original color and the sun damaged area.
National Library Relocations moved the furniture, shelf units, and books so that The Home Beautiful could remove the old carpet, prep the floors, and install the new carpet.
The Table in the Reference Room became known as the Beast, by far the hardest thing to move!
Where did all of the books go during this project? Many were stored in the meeting room.

This is what the floors looked like under the carpet. The men installing the new carpet had a lot of prep work to do before they could install the new carpet. They sanded rough spots, cemented cracks , and spread a layer of adhesive before they installed the carpet tiles throughout the main library.
We are grateful for this beautiful new carpet!
Library Mystery
While removing the old carpet in the Periodical Room, Gordon from The Home Beautiful found a vintage candy wrapper stuffed under the old steam radiator. The Milk Chocolate Feast bar was made in the 1930’s and 1940’s by Rockwood & Co. Brooklyn, NY and cost just 5 cents.

Did a librarian from 1939 drop this wrapper in the radiator? Did a building contractor leave us a time capsule? Did a patron sneak a snack in the library and hide the evidence? Alas….
another mystery to add to the library collection!
