The Secretary’s report for the November 3, 2017 meeting was read and accepted. John motioned, Denise seconded.
The Treasurer’s report was reviewed and accepted. John motioned, Denise seconded. Judy reported the Appropriated Fund balance as of 12/15/17 at $5,233.78. She will be depositing the December check in the amount of $1,986.25 from the Town into the account to bring the balance up to $7,220.03.
The Library Director’s report was read and accepted. John motioned, Denise seconded.
*Programming: Maria would like to bring some library programming out into the community in 2018. Craig said he would like to work with the library on programming sponsored by both the library and the Recreation Department. He is planning on doing a summer concert series during the week this year instead of on Sundays and would like the library to be involved, perhaps on a Thursday evening. Craig also mentioned getting various groups together for a meeting (the Rec. Dept., the Library, Ossipee Listens, Main St., the Old Home Week committee, and OCC) to brainstorm about programming for the community and to encourage working together. We talked about programming that would draw both locals and tourists to the events. Denise suggested that Craig have a scholarship program for locals to participate in Rec. Dept. events. Craig told us of two scholarships already in place, the Ossipee Children’s Fund and Schools Out.
*Overdue Letter/Final Notice: At Maria’s suggestion, John motioned that we add the line, “We refer all claims to the Ossipee Police Department,” to the overdue letter. Judy seconded. Motion carried.
Unfinished Business:
*Maria will ask Joe Puffer if he would be interested in Bookkeeping for the library. (Elaine will only be working for the library until the beginning of January 2018).
*The board talked about whether or not the library would be able to give any money from the Appropriated Funds Operating Expense budget back to the town this year. That decision will be made at the next meeting after the rest of the December bills are paid.
*The library will work with Brad Harriman in 2018 to create a warrant article for new carpet in the library. This will be for the 2019 budget.
*Denise gave an update on Joan’s plaque. She looked at the Hurricane Lamps at NH Pewter, but the engraving surface was too small for what we would like. She then went to Granite Laser and looked at having something etched in black granite that could be displayed on an easel. A picture of Joan could also be placed on the granite. Denise will be getting a quote from Granite Laser. Maria talked with Sean McManus about making a block of wood look like a book that we could mount the Frank S. Lord brass plaque on to display on the mantle near his picture. Sean will look into creating something for us.
*Dottie Kwiatkowski passed away on December 10, 2017. We are grateful for her service to the Board of Trustees and will miss her. We will have to find someone to fill in for the rest of her term (until 3/2020). Suggestions can be brought to the Board of Trustees.
*Maria asked the Board for permission to hire another substitute worker. The Board approved the hiring of another sub. (JM/DC).
The meeting was adjourned at l: 56 pm (JM/JP).
Respectfully submitted,
Maria Moulton
