OSSIPEE PUBLIC LIBRARY TRUSTEES MEETING
DATE April 4, 2016
PLACE – Ossipee Town Hall
PRESENT: Selectmen: Frank Riley, Bob Freeman, Rick Morgan
Town Employees: Brad Harriman, Steve McConarty
Library Trustees – John Mingori, Dot Kwiatowski, Jane ter Kuile, Denise Castle
Library Director: Maria Moulton
The purpose of this meeting was to discuss interior repairs to the library necessitated by the leaking roof.
Frank Riley welcomed the trustees to the meeting.
Prior to the meeting, Brad and Steve had visited the library to see the extent of the repairs. Maria had prepared a list of the repairs she felt were necessary.
Frank asked Brad and Steve if they had an idea what the cost would be based on what they had seen. They agreed that it would be in the area of $10,000. Brad then suggested that the Town’s insurance company be contacted and a claim filed. Ellen said she would call them and see what they would need to proceed with the claim. The Selectmen and Brad will see about getting quotes for the project as well as making sure proper insurance is provided and the Town’s attorney be contacted if necessary.
Jane commented that currently horse hair plaster is in that section and inquired if it was necessary that horse hair be used in the repairs. The consensus of the Selectmen, Brad and Steve was that this was not necessary.
The Library does have the bequest from Joan O’Hara to apply to this project. The Selectmen felt they could find additional funds in the Government Buildings account to get the repairs completed, if necessary. Since the Town will be doing the hiring of a contractor, it was recommended that the Library issue checks to the Town, who in turn would make the payments.
We were also advised that this process will take time and we should not look for any work to begin before late summer/early fall.
We were assured that we will be kept “in the loop” as things progress. The meeting ended with the Selectmen complimenting Maria and the Trustees for the Library.
Respectively submitted, Jane ter Kuile, Secretary.
